About Me
Before becoming a therapist, I studied to be a mechanical engineer. I love problem solving and designing solutions! As a therapist, I enjoy bringing my analytical brain to the work of healing and growing. I work to balance the care and empathy we show towards our past with the thoughtfulness and intention we show towards our future. I want to help you heal from the past and grow towards a life you love.
I have also built a life I love for myself! Beyond my fulfilling career, I enjoy exploring the wonders of Colorado with my family. If I’m not in the mountains, you might find me lifting weights, reading a new book, or trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.
“I grew up believing that I had to prove myself worthy of love by impressing others with my achievements. My journey has centered around learning to believe that I belong, regardless of successes or failures.”
My Background
I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary after completing my Bachelors in mechanical engineering at LeTourneau University. As a therapist, I have taken on the role of continuing to educate myself on the latest research around human development, mental health, and career success.
I have always loved trying to understand whats happening beneath the surface, discovering what motivates and drives us, and figuring out how we grow and learn. In high school and college that looked like participating in and leading peer support groups, working as a summer camp counselor, and volunteering for any leadership position I could find. Experience revealed to me that I found immense purpose in helping people heal, grow, and learn, so I decided to make a career out of it.
Along the way, I worked several different jobs in recreation and therapeutic settings supporting individuals with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. I spent extensive time working with neurodiverse children and and young adults and developed a passion for helping others succeed and enjoy life.
My Approach
Therapy involves a real relationship! I like to connect with you, person to person, using humor, story, and regular conversation. I also want to make the most of your time, so I’ll be looking for those pain points or connections that help us draw up a comprehensive picture of what is going on for you. I am committed to finding a therapeutic approach that works for you and helping you learn to make the most of our time together.
I You will find me stringing a balance between warm empathy and straightforward problem solving. It is important that you know I believe you and I care, but it also important that we actually fix what’s going on. The balance of these two efforts will depend on where we are at in the therapeutic process and what feels important to you on the day of your appointment.
